Something simply has to change.
Worldwide, bridge has almost a fifth fewer federation players than in 2019; Europe over a quarter fewer than in 1996, North America a third fewer than in 1991. Meanwhile we still learn and play bridge much as we did then. See the numbers ↓
That is why we are building BidTrainer alongside what already exists: with innovations that put bridge in a new light, in teaching, playing and analysing.
Fewer federation players, everywhere.
Major bridge organisations count fewer registered players than before. Each line starts at 0% in its own base year.
- EBL · Europe: about −25% since 1996 (about 385,000 → 288,846 registered players)
- ACBL · North America: about −33% since the 1991 peak (about 191,000 → 127,969 members)
- WBF · world: about −19.5% since 2019 (584,209 → about 470,000 adult members)
The series count federation members, not everyone who plays bridge, over different periods, so do not add them up. Sources: EBL Review 19 and USBC bulletin 2025 (EBL), ACBL membership statistics (ACBL), WBF seminar May 2024 (WBF).
Out of love for the game
Bridge is the finest game there is. The easier it becomes to learn and play, the more people will take it up. No costs, with or without a course, no barriers. You can do it all yourself, at your own pace.
Bridge is not a game of the past. It is a smart, social mind game of today, for every age.
Free for every player
Learn. Play. Keep improving.
You learn an agreement, record how the two of you play it and practise with it. Then you play: at home, at the club or in tournaments. In Review you see your strengths and points to improve, and you take those into your next practice.
Four layers, one system that suits you
You don't have to write down every agreement yourself. BidTrainer builds on what already exists and shows what you have chosen yourselves. Your own agreement always comes first.
For the whole bridge world
Bridge connects people across borders. We are building an independent environment with room for different languages, systems, playing strengths and club cultures. We are happy to work with players, teachers, clubs and federations who share this goal.
Innovating, so that bridge moves forward
Take entering results: today it costs clubs and tournament directors a lot of time, money and equipment. We look for simpler and cheaper ways, so more time is left for the game itself. See the roadmap.
